Jessica and Cliff are Engaged! {Kid City Children’s Museum – Middletown, CT} Sassy Mouth Photography
Cliff tweeted me after our initial hi, how ya doin’ emails, and said that he and fiance Jessica thought I was their photographic soul mate. I am inclined to agree…especially after this engagement shoot. Cliff has mad skills in design and social media (CLIFFPRO) and Jessica…well she just has mad skills…in seemingly all things awesome. Her blog Jessica Etc is pretty good proof of that. And these two are having a pretty amazing Carnival Wedding at The New England Carousel Museum in August. Oh yeah, I am not even kidding. So, they wanted to do something fun for their engagement photo’s, and Jessica emailed me saying they wanted to color, and go to Kid City Children’s Museum in Middletown, Connecticut. Absolutely!!!! And we did..and they colored..and we explored Kid City…and I love this couple, and that place. The museum has such an excellent sense of humor, ESPECIALLY for what we were doing there! It is fantastic! I think I had more fun than half the kids there. Ha. Anyways, get ready for some insanely awesome pictures. I warned you.

Roseledge Herb Farm, Bed & Breakfast {Preston, Connecticut} Sassy Mouth Photography
Over the years that we have been going to Strawberry Park Resort Campground (about 16 years now..sheesh..) this beautiful place has developed right along Route 164 in Preston, CT…and I have always been curious about it.. Roseledge Herb Farm is amazing. We stopped today, per my request after dreaming about photographing it yesterday as we zoomed by on the way home from a wedding. Today was a bit overcast, but to balance that out, it is in fact, Earth Day. So you can’t beat frolicking through lovely gardens, looking at beautiful herbs, plants, and flowers, then stopping in the little store and ooohing at all the cool stuff. This is a pretty magical place. I can’t wait to take my mom (and SAM??!) to check it out, and Gail, the Goodwill Ambassador (:)) cool chick, and amazingly talented woman, said that everything changes all the time, and to come back soon. Absolutely. HAPPY EARTH DAY! <3

I love when my peeps want to do a photo shoot at a cool place. Mike belongs to Mickey Blakes Cigar Club in Southington, and this is where he and Kelly hang out with their peeps, have inside jokes, watch sports, chill, drink some wine, and have a lovely time smoking cigars. And they want to do an engagement shoot there?!? Absolutely!!!
Then we headed to Rogers Orchards in Southington for a little spring evening frolicking and smooching. So adorable!! <3 <3

Katie and Hellen {Sister Sister Photo Shoot} Sassy Mouth Photography
I photographed Katie’s wedding to Jeff last year, and had a fabulous time with this lady. She is an artist, and so sweet, and I was more than happy to take photo’s of her and her beautiful little sister, Hellen, in The Sassy Space last Sunday. I remembered Hellen from the wedding as soon as Katie mentioned wanting to take pictures with her sister, and new she would be a fun lady to have visit the studio, not to mention both of them being super photogenic. Oh, Hellen had a blast. For real. You will absolutely be able to tell this little chicadee had a fantastic time here.
I had a great time with all of them!! Even the prettiest dolly ever, Mary, that Katie bought for Hellen..awwwww <3 Thanks for coming ladies!!

Our Easter {Hippity Hoppity} Sassy Mouth Photography
Our family’s Easter started off bright and early at Strawberry Park Resort Campground in Preston, CT. The Easter Bunny found us there! Lilly and Abby went into an early sugar shock, and we all traipsed out the field for a bright and early Easter Egg Hunt. 50,000 pieces of candy, 500 eggs. Plenty for everyone, and a wonderful egg hunt, sad face Easter comes to early next year and there won’t be one, because unlike this crazy warm March, it could possibly snow next year in March. Good ole New England. Side Note: Why is it so hot today? Eesh. Bring back the spring. SO, the hunt went magical, the girls looked so dang cute, mommy got them these awesome headbands at Michael’s. Then dinner at my momma’s house in Meriden, and another egg hunt in the backyard..I got to toss the candy for the first time ever. Mmmm that food looks amazing. Hope you all had a magical Easter!! <3

Dr. Seuss Memorial Sculpture Garden {Springfield Museums – Springfield, Mass} Sassy Mouth Photography
Aunt Ginny has really really wanted to go to the Dr. Seuss Memorial Sculpture Garden in Springfield, Massachusetts for about three years now. Then I saw on the Today Show a few weeks ago, that The Lorax statue was stolen from Dr. Seuss’s (Theodor Seuss Geisel) Widow’s home, in California, where it stood protecting the tree’s. That made me so dang sad. Who would take The Lorax? I hope he get back home. But then, they mentioned that the Sculptor Lark Grey Dimond-Cates, (who is also Dr. Seuss’s step-daughter!) made two of The Lorax’s, the other in the national memorial garden in Springfield. Now I had to go. We saw The Lorax a few weeks ago in the movies..it was cute..but the original words of Dr. Seuss, in the story of The Lorax, they are a true example of his genius. He was an amazing genius. And in front of the statue of The Lorax, in Springfield, my absolute favorite quote, one I know I live my life by, and am on a mission to make others live by.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not”
True story. Unless we all care a whole bunch more, nothing will ever change. So start right now.
So, Aunt Ginny, Lilly, Abby and I got in the car and went to Springfield. The Sculpture Garden sits in the Quadrangle of the Springfield Museums. And for one ticket price, you can visit all of the museums in the Quad. Oh yeah, I know, right? What a deal. We went to the Springfield Science Museumbecause the girls were with us, and it seemed most kid friendly, but I would love to check out George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum and the Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts on another trip. I bet Lilly would like the painting too..Abby liked the fish and frogs.
Back to the Seuss sculptures! We had a great time! Kids are not allowed to climb all over the sculptures, but they can play around at the bottom of the book that a 14 foot Horton sits upon! And hug the Cat in the Hat or The Grinch! And sit atop a who-tastic seat, with little who feet, inside a book, in a cute little nook.
Oh the places we will go is spelled out behind, and benches are all around, if you would like to unwind.
We had a blast. I took pictures. Aunt Ginny has a few of me to prove that I was actually there, and I have some of her. That is our new deal.
Thanks Aunt Ginny! We also took a little adventure and had some banging rice and beans and chicken. I am not sure where..but it was delish.

Bathroom Renovation is Done! {No More Nemo} Sassy Mouth Photography
Tj and I have been in this apartment for a long time now. 7 years. For the first year of my bathrooms life, it was dark burgundy with a black and off white curtain. Sort of how the branding of Sassy Mouth looked at the beginning. Then one day, I decided it would be AWESOME if my bathroom was like being in a fishtank, and I painted Finding Nemo scene all over it. Oh yeah, I am totally not kidding. And we lived with Nemo for 6 years. Oh, and a few years ago, Tj and my mom discovered an extra window hole on the outside of the house, that was covered over somehow over the years. That meant that this bathroom renovation was going to be a really big project when the time came for it to happen.
I bought the light fixture for the bathroom on clearance at Lowes for $20 about 3 years ago. I had forgotten about it, and what it looked liked. I was so happy when it was time for it to go up, and it matched perfectly. Tj gets massive amounts of credit, he did the construction on this bathroom totally, I take design credit and re-did the dry sink, and and all the girly touches. Seems fair to me. But with our Sassy Space project happening after this business took off like a rocket, our bathroom kept getting pushed off. And after four months of renovation (hey, we are busy people) we finally took our first showers in this bathroom on Friday. That was a big day for me. It was like heaven.
You have no idea what it is like to go into this bathroom now. Where it once was dark, it now it light. Where it once was hopeless, broken tiles, and places that would never come clean, is now a glistening magical place that I want to move into. It is sure making the rest of my house look shabby. Lol. I am almost embarrassed to show the before, because this really was our bathroom before. But the after, ah, the after, it makes it all worth it. Tj and I finally have a grown up bathroom. Hoorayyyyyyy!!!

Sweet little Nevada {Photo Shoot in The Sassy Space} Sassy Mouth Photography
I met Nevada’s mommy Heather and my niece Lilly’s Dinosaur Birthday Party in January…which was conveniently located in The Sassy Space Photo Studio. How nice of an Auntie Risa am I? I know, right? And Heather told her brother, and his fiance about me, and I get to photograph their wedding in July 2013. Woot woot. I think she called them from the party. Lol. Then last week, I got to take pictures of Heather’s cutie pie, Nevada, in her debut shoot in The Sassy Space. She is a super cutie pie.
The Wedding of Tara and Milesh {New Britain Museum of American Art} Sassy Mouth Photography
What a wonderful day for a Hindu/Jewish wedding. At an art museum. And they got married in front of keg cups, swirling, amazing colorful keg cups, Lisa Hoke’s: The Gravity of Color. The ceremony and reception were both held at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, Connecticut. Tara and Milesh are way cool peeps. I mean, you have to be able to tell that by now. The girls got ready in the fabulous library at the museum, had to pass the Norman Rockwell outside the door. The guys were downstairs in the workshop, with the skeleton. You will see, you will see.
We did first look (I <3 first look long time, in case you didn’t know…) and some bridal party pictures outside, before Tara dressed in her Sari for the Hindu wedding ceremony. The same Sari her mother wore to marry her father, and sister wore at her wedding in Indian. Gotta love it. Did I mention is was purple, and gold, and beautiful? You will see, you will see. After the Hindu ceremony, a quick wardrobe change for the Jewish one. Pretty amazing, and my first Jewish wedding! Then lots of fun times, and delish Indian food from the fabulous Jordan Caterers…mmmm. Thanks so much for having us!! They totally went to Rio for their honeymoon!! Right?!
