The Wedding of Crystal and Ron {Hubbard Park: Meriden, CT} Sassy Mouth Photography

Crystal and Ron have been together since forever…and are currently in the lead for most weddings booked with me that didn’t actually happen…Haha.  Sorry guys!  They have been trying to get married for a few years now, but it seems every time it gets farther and farther away from the actual getting married, and more and more into the world of millions of plans, family members being upset they aren’t invited, the costs go crazy, and wedding plans get to stressful, Crystal is all done with the whole thing.  So, when she messaged me in October that her and Ron wanted to just be married, once and for all, I sort of knew it was for real this time.  I tried to set her up with a wedding planner, but the two didn’t mesh well, so I took the reigns and set up a pretty little park wedding for her on a Friday afternoon, so she could marry her best friend.  Crystal is also a long time friend of my sister’s, and our family, so I was happy to help her out with this.  My Uncle Bobby is a Deacon, and performed her ceremony (beautifully I might add, and he is available for hire, just saying..)  Tj and I made the alter/archway, and my sister helped with things as well.  :)   Kayle from the fabulous Beauty Entourage did makeup, the always amazing Heather Henry from HGK Designs put together a bouquet and boutonnieres for the day.   Lisa Ward did her hair, big ups to Lisa Ward.  :)   Oh, and if you are a Sassy Mouth fan, you will probably recognize the pretty little flower girls…they are sorta famous around these parts.  :)   I hope you guys loved your wedding!!  :)

Ps…If taking the photo’s from my blog  to post on facebook, you have to LIKE MY PAGE  first (it’s the law!!) and please do not do ANY sort of cropping to my images..that really makes me sad..they are beautiful just the way they are…especially cropping out the ‘Sassy Mouth Photography’ part…that makes me REALLY SAD.  Thanks!! A New York City Christmas {December 2011} Sassy Mouth Photography

In case I haven’t said it before…I love New York City.  Everything about it.  In all times of the year.  Well…less in the summer on those really really hot days when it sort of smells..but even then, I love it.  When I am rich and famous, I will absolutely have an apartment there.  I am meant to live in that city at some time in my life.  Tj, myself, Aunt Ginny, and my momma all took the train down the first weekend in December to see the sites, and most importantly, to see Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry on display at Christie’s before it went up to auction.  And see we did, and walk, and hustle, and bustle.  :)

Where to start, where to start….the windows?  Yes, we saw them.  Lots of them.  I love the New York City Window displays every year.   My personal favorites are always the beautiful window displays at Bergdorf Goodman where they take the art of window art to ANOTHER level, and create masterpieces.  As for the rest of them…they all seemed to have the same sort of idea in common, cogs, clocks, factories, working, white.  It seems Macy’s and Saks 5th Avenue went so out of their way to be different from one another, they ended up basically the same!!  For those following along, first windows in this blog are Saks 5th Avenue, a few randoms (including a purse from Michael Kors that I feel quite strongly towards, and would like one of my happy sassy peeps to gather up $10 from all my other sassy peeps and buy it for me for Christmas..just saying… :) ) next windows are Bergdorf, and the final are Macy’s.

But of course, in between all of this, we had to eat.  Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain was our dining choice, and we were lucky, when I called the hostess gave me a tip that there were a few people at the bar waiting for their table, and to get their soon to scoop up their seats when they left.  We did, it was perfectly timed, had a few drinks (Martini’s, Manhattans!) , some delicious food, all was better in the world, and New York City seemed to sparkle a little brighter that night.  We also ate at Macy’s The Cellar Bar & Grill for a nice little lunch we shared on Sunday.  :)   I had a wonderful Mimosa.  Yummm.

Now, I couldn’t take any photo’s of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewels, or her clothes..but you know I wish I could.  This was an epic site to see, one that will never been seen again since all these pieces went up for Auction yesterday and will soon be scattered throughout the world.  It was absolutely amazing.  I love Elizabeth Taylor.  She had the most class, style, grace, and TASTE …not to mention got all of these as gifts!  Smart lady!!  It was amazing, thank you Aunt Ginny for wanting to go!!

Any questions about anything else, what it is, where it was, just ask!  That’s as much as I can remember right now.  :)   And if you can’t make it to New York City to enjoy the holiday sites this year, enjoy enjoy.

The Wedding of Amy and Anthony {Lake of Isles Foxwoods: Ledyard, CT} Sassy Mouth Photography

Ah Amy, one of my best Sassy stalkers, your wedding was beautiful.  Anthony is a cool dude (he asked when we met a few days before the wedding if he could call me Sassy Pants…haha :) ) and I have always wanted to shoot a wedding at Lake of Isles Foxwoods.  Chaz was my assistant/second shooter on this wedding, and for the first time we flew alone…it was pretty good, a few hiccups, and the realization of how dependent I am on my routine with TJ to do my job.  Oh TJ.  :)   The couple also has a beautiful family, and such a sweet ceremony about how the two will be joined as one.  It was a lovely afternoon, thank you so much for having me.  And big ups to Amy who made practically everything!  The boutonnieres, bouquets, centerpieces, and more!  She has sweet skills!!!  :)   Thank you for having me!

Letters to Santa {Holiday Sessions in The Sassy Space} Sassy Mouth Photography

Each year, I look for something a little different, something that will inspire me.  These giant pencil’s I found around 11pm at Walmart the night before my Holiday Sessions began, they inspired me.  I knew I wanted the kids to write letters to Santa, and thought about a template, but when it came down to it, just laying on their bellies in front of the fire, giant pencils in hand…it was magic.  It didn’t need more.  Oh yes, next year I will change it a bit and make it different….but I couldn’t be happier with how the letters to Santa came out.  They are now displayed in my hallways proudly, until after my holiday party this Saturday, then I will send them off to the big guy.  :)

The Wedding of Anthony and Liz {St. Patrick St. Anthony Church & The Society Room: Hartford, CT} Sassy Mouth Photography

I love Hartford.  I love Hartford when I have a beautiful wedding filled with awesome people there that day.  I love when it is a lovely day, and everyone looks great, and is so happy.  Liz and Anthony are the bomb.  Arriving to the Residence Inn, first thing on my mission list is round up the dress and shoes.  That’s when I saw this dress, bound up, and fluffed, stuffed, and strapped better than any dress I have ever seen.  I knew this dress was not from Davids.  Liz asked if they are all like that.  No way.  This dress came from somewhere where they understand the importance of the dress you just bought, and the experience they want you to have.  She got it from Kleinfeld.  And it was an absolutely stunning Alita Graham by Kleinfeld that sparkled and moved in the most amazing way.  Sigh.  I love weddings.  Then…I went to the boys room…and in what can only be described as ‘Amazing photographer instincts/a complete case of good timing’  I walked in to them hauling the mattress into the center of the room, and leaping from the above balcony.  “Your gonna jump?  Awesome.”  I got my spot in the corner to document.  Boys are crazy.

The Ceremony was held at St Patrick St Anthony Church, the first Roman Catholic Church in Connecticut!  Absolutely beautiful.  Then the reception.  Ahh the reception.  At the always fabulous The Society Room of Hartford.  A dream place in Hartford to get married.  The band Heartbeat Dance Band kept the party hopping and where fantastic!!  I think I could go on forever, and Im sure there is much more I want to say…but let’s get to the photo’s, shall we??

North Pole Express: Essex, CT {Seeing is Believing} Sassy Mouth Photography

My favorite movie North Pole ever is from The Polar Express.  This is how the North Pole really would be, a beautiful little factory town.  With cobblestone streets that wind between, a rail track connecting buildings for shipping purposes, and thousands of elves making the toys.   And Santa?  When he shows up, it is like the President is in town.  He is not available to all of them, he is very very important, their head honcho!  He is their rock star, their icon, the man they love, respect, and cherish.  Oh sure, they have seen him before, some have even talked with him, SOME are lucky enough to be his right hand Elves and work with the big guy everyday.  AND when he shows up, and CHRISTMAS EVE, they climb all over one another to get a look!!  Not to mention, this is their big day, what they have worked for all year, so OF COURSE they are going to PARTY like it’s 1999 after he leaves and all was a success.  It’s my favorite.  Now watch it, and you will understand why.

So, when Aunt Ginny said she wanted to go on Essex’s North Pole Express this year, you know I was pretty excited!!  Essex’s Steam Train is a dream, a perfect Polar Express, it is as though that Train’s destiny was to make kids dreams come true each year in December.  So we went.  In our pajama’s, of course!  And I brought a sack of reindeer ears, because you know I have to make everything Sassy.  Not only did I absolutely love the train ride (big ups to Princess Snowflake for WORKING it and singing her heart out the whole time!) but I loved the train museum located right at the platform.  Whoever did the inside of this building has such a coolness to them, such great spirit.  It could have been full of regular kids stuff…but instead, they get to be a star, drive a train, steer a boat, or be a mermaid.  All in a cool old building strung with white lights.  And the best train set ever, with a drive through McDonalds.  :)   Oh, and the last two pictures.  Epic.  This was all done handheld, low light, but this is what it was like to be on the Polar Express.

In The Corner of Naughty and Nice {Where you good this year?} Sassy Mouth Photography

I knew I wanted to do wrapping paper on the walls for my photoshoots this year.  I had a whole bunch of them booked, and needed to change the look of my studio inexpensively, and make it festive, but also have the option of changing the paper after a few days of shoots to give it a new look.  When I came across the naughty and nice paper at the Hallmark store, I knew it was magic, and had to go in my studio somewhere.  I didn’t realize how much magic that paper had, in fact, it was my most fun set up of the studio.  After the standard smile by the tree ones, everyone that came took a trip to the naughty and nice corner…where they could wear hats, antlers, gloves, whatever they wanted, and got to show their dual personalities by giving me a nice face..then a naughty one.  Some we obviously more naughty than nice…others where really good at pretending they had more nice in them…but everyone was absolutely fabulous….As I have said before, I really do have the most wonderful peeps.  I <3 you all.  Thank you all for being so much fun, and making my job pretty awesome.  Each time every one of you left, I would sit down and smile, then at the end of the day call and tell my mom about the people I saw that day, the things we did, photo’s we took, Christmas spirit soared two weeks before December started.  Also, for those interested in pictures next year, I will open booking the same time as this year, early November, and book the same weeks, this worked out perfectly, couldn’t have gone any better!! But I am getting emails from people asking for family shoots now, and feel bad, so this is your year in advance warning…book early, and quick…Im getting really famous.  :)   Now, enjoy some photos from The Sassy Space’s Corner of Naughty and Nice: 2011.

The Wedding of Kimberly and John {The Riverview – Simsbury, CT} Sassy Mouth Photography

Kimberly Millette is one of my biggest fans.  She is usually one of the first people to like anything I post on the Facebook, and I love that she has so much sass.  And she is really a very nice person, which is cool.  I heard in a movie once ‘Kindness, a trait people never fail to undervalue’  and being the movie fans Kim and John are, I’m sure they will be able to figure out each one.  :)   They wedding was as lovely as the pair, we did an engagement shoot in Manchester just a few months ago, and the couple brought adorable stuff and honed in on their frolicking skills.  Their wedding day was full of love, laughing..and candy.  Yes.  The Riverview in Simsbury cracked out the hottest candy table I had ever seen.  Peeps were wearing the candy around them like necklaces..well..what wouldn’t fit in their pockets.  :)   Anyways, thanks for being such a great fan Kim, I hope you continue to be forever and ever.. :)

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas {Sassy Holiday Sessions 2011} Sassy Mouth Photography

MAN, we were hopping at The Sassy Space for holiday sessions this year!!  And it was holly, jolly, silly, sweet, beautiful, and absolutely fabulous.  I love all these peeps…especially the kids though, they are great.  They really say the best things.  And crack me up.  See, the thing about The Sassy Space is, it is sorta like going over someones house.  And this someone is this lady, who seems a little crazy at the beginning, but she ends up being pretty cool, and funny even (who would have thought?!) and then, they don’t really want to leave.  A dad said ‘Why would they, this is like Santa’s Village in here’ …  :)   This was after his son said ‘Why do we have to leave?’  CAN you believe that?  Now, this was a family photo session, not playing outside, or a video game, this was a little boy, who had to smile nice, put on his Christmas pajamas’s, hug and snuggle with his sister, wear reindeer antler’s, and have some fun family time.  And he didn’t want to leave that.  That sort of stuff, that’s why I am doing this…It is just magic.  I look at other photographer’s blogs once in a while (when this crazy schedule permits) and my work doesn’t look like theirs.  It used to bother me, it did, but not so much anymore.  Because this is exactly what I want it to look like.  Sometimes not as sharp as a tack.  Sometimes exposed weirdly in places.  Sometimes a little to dark.  But just how I wanted it to look.

I had a young man come up to me at a wedding a few weeks ago with a Nikon, and he asked why I went Cannon.  Because I bought my own first camera..used, off of craigslist, and I had two cards for it, and a stock lens…and that’s what I could afford, and I wanted to learn so  so bad.  Yes, it has evolved into something much greater, and I do believe I am a Canon girl for life, (although a PC to MAC change may be in order…) I wouldn’t have changed any step I took along the way.  Ok, some days I want to scream.  Everything keeps freezing, I feel like I have been staring at this screen for my entire life, but the good is so epic, how can I even let it get to me, I mean, really get to me.  I can’t.  That’s silly.  What I have here is absolutely amazing, the people that I get to meet, and document their lives, its so cool.  For real.  And I even started getting presents!!  Im so famous.  :)   Sorry for that little drift over to la la land, but you know, end of the year and all, holiday season, sentiments….I’m a romantic, in case you couldn’t tell…

So, without further ado I give you the sneak peeks from this holiday season photo session.  :)   I will have a few more assortments to follow throughout December, but I have albums to design, contests to run on Facebook (one going on right now for all my 2011 newlyweds!) and family/friends time to be had.
