DIY Last Minute Halloween Costume {CT Photographer – The Sassy Space – Meriden, CT Photo Studio} Sassy Mouth Photography

Halloween is tomorrow!! AHH!  And although I would like to join in with those who say that October went waaaay to fast, after four weeks of Halloween at Strawberry Park Campground, then two more weeks of spooktacular activities, including Fall/Halloween mini sessions in The Sassy Space, I am about to be ALL SPOOKED OUT.  Lol.  Almost over it. BUT here are TWO easy to pull together looks if you are in need of some inspiration!

Sassy Mouth as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at Tiffany's Costume Holly Golightly - Sassy Mouth Photography

Transforming into the iconic character portrayed by Audrey Hepburn was easier than I imagined it would be.  A black dress, any white or ivory pearls, black gloves (hers are satin, I had these, its ok to use what you have!) and crown will have you looking like the iconic Holly Golightly in no time!  I made my long cigaraette holder by spray painting a dowel black, and tapping white paper at the end.  Boom.  Roll your hair up into a french twist, then curl the ends forward and pin under to create your bun on top, and there you go, darlings!   If you can figure out how to have ‘Moon River’ play when you are around, even better!

Krystalized Designs as Katy Perry’s fabulous feline, Kitty Purry.

Pssssh, anyone can be Katy Perry.  We took it a step further and transformed Krystal into the Pop Icons Iconic cat, Kitty Purry.  Little black ears, a purple feather boa wrapped around her head, blinging colorful necklace, and some beautiful face painting created the Puuurrrrrfect Kitty Purry.  Roar.

Operation Shower – Baby Liberty {Battello Restaurant – Jersey City, NJ} Sassy Mouth Photography

Team Sassy Mouth has photographed Operation Shower at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, CT since 2012 (check out blogs from 2012, 2013, 2014) and as you may have guessed, by now we are totally bonded.  I love Amy Belle and her whole team, the showers they put on to honor Military Mom’s and Mom’s to Be are just beautiful, they shower them with gifts from start to finish, it is a beautiful event to be asked to document.  SO when they asked me to come with them to New Jersey, right across the water from Manhattan (beautiful view of the city skyline, and the Freedom Tower that Mr. Sassy captured are in this blog!)  to photograph Operation Shower – Baby Liberty at Battello Restaurant, I was for sure in for a road trip.  The event, sponsored by Babies “R” Us and Kardashian Kids was filled with beatiful Momma’s, husbands, babies, all with smiles on their faces the entire luncheon.

From Operation Shower’s Website

Operation Shower began in March 2007, when LeAnn Morrissey, looking for a way to give back to her uncle who was deployed overseas, was asked to send a card to 4 women who were expecting babies while their spouses were deployed.   LeAnn decided to try to do much more for these families.  She set out with family and friends to send a “shower in a box” to the four military families who were expecting babies while the husband was deployed. The overwhelming support she received putting these boxes together and the messages of thanks she received from these moms left her with little doubt that this was something worth doing — over and over again!   She joined with Kris Jackson, to hold the first unit-wide shower at Ft. Bragg, NC in June 2007.   From that point forward, they made it official and Operation Shower was born!

As of October 2010, the Operation Shower team has, through the generous donations of individuals and corporations and through volunteer-power, showered over 400 women.  We have held 12 unit-wide showers on military bases across the country for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and National Guard.  Operation Shower feels blessed and honored to be able to join with these women for a special celebration during what is otherwise an often stressful time. The showers provide wonderful items for the new babies and moms, and help bring the women together to celebrate with others in the same situation.

Operation Shower was founded specifically because we know that moms in a military family who hold it all together at home — moms who go through a pregnancy without their spouse by their side, deployed to a another part of the world, proudly serving our country, but wishing they could do more for those at home — these moms deserve our support, our thanks, our love and of course, they deserve a party!

It was our pleasure being there!  So nice to hang with you all!  See the full gallery on Operation Showers FB Page.
